Prof. T.T. Haokip graduated from Union Christian College, Barapani, and obtained his Honours in Political Science, securing 3rd position in the university and Honours in History from St. Edmund’s College. He completed his MA with first class in Political Science (1989), securing 2nd position in the university, Master of Philosophy (M.Phil-1991) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in 1995 from North-Eastern Hill University Shillong. He has been teaching Foreign Policy of Major Powers, Public Administration, International Law and International Organisation and State Politics of Northeast India at North-Eastern Hill University since 1996.

His current areas of interest include the interface between Democratic Governance and Traditional Institutions, Ethnicity, Ethnic conflicts, Border studies, Border disputes, and Armed movements in Northeast India and South Asia.

Prof. T.T. Haokip was the recipient of the South Asian Regional Fellow from the Social Science Research Council (SSRC) New York in 2005. Prof. Haokip has attended, and presented papers at national and international seminars/conferences, published several journal articles and contributed chapters in edited books.
