Extension work and awareness programmes:

  1. As principal member of the North-Eastern Biodiversity Research cell, funded by the North East Council (Govt. Of India), have represented the cell in many joint programmes, awareness programmes involving NGO’s, State Departments etc., covering the entire North East Region. Have organized, conducted and presented paper related to biodiversity and medicinal plants conservation in Meghalaya, Assam, Aizawl, Mizoram, Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh (2001).
  2. Member of the State Steering Committee (Meghalaya) for the National Biodiversity Strategy Action Plan (NBSAP), funded by the Ministry of Environment and Forest (MOEF), 2000-2002 have toured, survey, organized public hearings, awareness etc the technical report of which was submitted to MoEF.
  3. Member of the State Level Planning Committee (Meghalaya) for the Sustainable Utilization and Conservation of Medicinal Plants (2003)
  4. Collaboration with FRLHT, Bangalore in a UNEP programme to conduct public hearings, workshop, exhibition on the topic “Sustainable Utilization and Conservation of Medicinal Plants” w.ef. December 2002 to April 2003 all over the state of Meghalaya. A technical report was prepared and submitted.
  5. Environmental Orientation Programme for school of North East Region, a project undertaken by NEBRC & SSSS in collaboration with Assam Science Society w.e.f. march 2004 to march 2005, sponsored by MHRD, GOI.
  6. Initiated, organized and conducted survey on the prevalence of diabetes mellitus in Meghalaya in collaboration with Martin Luther Christian University and the State Health Dept. w.e.f  September, 2006 to March 2007,  the report was presented during the 96th Indian Science Congress, Jan, 2009.
