NEHU organises Run For Unity on 31st October, 2018


North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) organized  the event of RUN FOR UNITY on 31st October, 2018 to mark the day as RASHTRIYA EKTA DIWAS (National Unity Day) commemorating the 143rd Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the iron-man and the first Home Minister of Independent India.  The Vice Chancellor flagged off the RUN at 7.50 a.m. The RUN followed the route from the Gate No. 5 of the NEHU Campus to the Administrative Block via the adjacent village, Mawkynron, outside the NEHU Campus and covering nearly 3-4 km length of the run for different categories.  A large number of students and…

'Surgical Strike Day' commemorated in the University


The North-Eastern Hill University organised a programme to commemorate the ‘Surgical Strike Day’ on September 29, 2018 at 2 pm at the Multi-Use Convention Centre. Brigadier William J.B. Sturgeon, YSM, SM (retd), Director Sainik Welfare & Secretary Rajya Sainik Board Meghalaya, Shillong was the chief guest on the occasion. The parents of (L) Clifford W. Nongrum were present as well. Dr. Bertrand de Hartingh, Counsellor for Cooperation and Cultural Affairs and Country Director of Institut Français, New Delhi along with a team of six officials visited the North-Eastern Hill University on May 11 morning to propose a new partnership between India and France with regards to higher education. The alumnus of France’s most prestigious university ENS Ulm – alma mater of many Nobel laureates such as JeanPaul Sartre, spoke at length about how Indian students can benefit from Indo-French partnership. The tournament was organised by the Sports Department of the University from the 24th to 27th April 2018 at the Multi Purpose Ground, NEHU Permanent Campus, Shillong. Mother Tongue Day Observed in NEHU


Following the steps of the footsteps of UNESCO which observes 'International Mother Language Day' in order to promote 'fuller awareness on linguistic and cultural traditions based on understanding, tolerance and dialogue, the University Grants Commission has declared February 21 as 'Matribhasha Diwas' or Mother Tongue Day and urged all Universities to hold activities that promote the linguistic diversity in the country. Martyr's Day Observed


The North-Eastern Hill University observed two minutes silence on January 30 in front of the Administrative Building, in memory of those who gave up their lives in the struggle for India’s freedom.  January 30 (1948) is also the day that Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated and that’s why the Government of India announced the day as Shaheed Diwas or Martyr’s Day.
