Beyond Earth: A unique three-day workshop dedicated to designing structures for outer space. This was a joint venture, organized by Design Innovation Center, NEHU Shillong and developed by Shillong based edu-tech startup Turbit, Shillong. "Beyond Earth" set the stage for participants from diverse backgrounds and age groups ranging from 14 to 26 to explore the art and science behind creating sustainable habitats for space living. The workshop, conceived by Turbit and led by Mritunjay Baruah, Research Associate at ISRO and alumni of NID Ahmedabad, saw attendees engaging in a series of interactive sessions including a virtual reality experience simulating the International Space Station, creating mock-ups and eventually creating prototypes of their ideas. The workshop was held on the 18th -20th December 2023.
