Webinar on “Life Sketch and Contributions of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya”

A Webinar on the “Life Sketch and Contributions of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya” was held on 26th March, 2021 at the North Eastern Hill University, Shillong. The programme was organized by the Incubation Centre NEHU, NEHU’s Deendayal Upadhyaya Community College for Skill Development, Wahiajer; and Shillong Chapter, Indian Science Congress Association (ISCA), Kolkata from 16:00 hrs. The programme was attended by more than 100 participants from all over the state of Meghalaya. In the webinar, the Guest of Honour and Invited Speakers were the Hon’ble Mr. Mmhonlumo Kikon, who is a BJP Spokesperson, and a Member of Legislative Assembly from Bhandar (Wokha) constituency in Nagaland and Dr. Hemant R. Kushwaha, Co-ordinator at Innovation and Incubation, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi highlighted the principle of integral humanism defined as classless casteless and conflict free social order with integration of indigenous “Indian culture” with the social political and economic fabric of the nation and “Rashtra Dharma” brings Peace and Prosperity  on which Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya devoted his life. Pandit Deendayal was a man with a strong vision and ideology and believed in decentralised polity and self reliant economy with the villages as the base and such an ideology has been instrumental in shaping the present day needs of the nation.

The webinar started with Welcome Address by Prof. D. Walia, CEO, Incubation Centre NEHU and Chapter Convener, Shillong Chapter, Indian Science Congress Association (ISCA), Kolkata; followed by the Address from Prof. H. Lamin, Pro Vice Chancellor, NEHU and Principal-in-charge, Deendayal Upadhyaya Community College for Skill Development, Wahiajer; Dr. J.N. Nayak, Registrar, NEHU stress the need to have such programmes to highlight the Philosophy of unifying the whole India as one, where there are no issues relating to Religion, Cast, Race, Place of Birth or any such discriminating factors. It was also highlighted that Pandit Deendayal worked his whole life to realise his dream of such a country and till the end of his days he did his best to achieve that goal.

It can be concluded that many people are not aware of the contributions, ideals and aspirations of Pandit Deendayal and more people need to be educated about this great man. Everyone agreed that more such programmes need to be conducted. Webinar concluded with a vision and dream to realise the ideals of a great person to bring Peace and Prosperity to the nation.
