NEHU Organised Unity Run, Unity Pledge and Mawpoin Competition

To celebrate 75th Years of Independence under ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ and to commemorate the Birth Anniversary of SardarVallabhbhai Patel which is celebrated as “National Unity Day” (RashtriyaEktaDiwas) on 31st of October every year, the North-Eastern Hill University is organisedRun for Unity & Pledge on 30th October, 2021 (Saturday). Altogether 130 numbers of participants took part in the Unity Run among students, teaching, non-teaching and campus residents. The run was started by a gun fire made by the Registrar of the North-Eastern Hill University, Dr. J. N. Nayak. The program was coordinated by Shri N. Das, Asst. Director (Phyl. Education), NEHU. There was also a pledge taking ceremony where every participant took unity pledge along with the Registrar, NEHU followed by a prize distribution ceremony.

Under ‘AzadiKaAmritMahotsav’ the North-Eastern Hill University also organized a Mawpoi`n Competition (Khasi Indigenous Game) between MawlaiKyntonMassar versus North-Eastern Hill University on the 30thOctober 2021 at the Football Ground, NEHU Permanent Campus, Shillong. The idea behind this event was to revive the Khasi Indigenous Games among the younger generation.

The competition was won by the NEHU team by 13/9 points. The event was coordinated by Prof. D. Kharmawphlang  and Shri N. Das, Asst. Director (Phyl. Edu), NEHU.
