IBRO 2021 MEETING: IBRO-APRC Short term Course on Depression, Anxiety, Mental Stress, and its remedies in light of COVID-19

A three days short term course on ‘Depression, Anxiety, Mental Stress, and its remedies in light of COVID-19’ was organized by the Department of Biomedical Engineering, NEHU, Shillong in virtual mode. The inaugural function held on 14th December 2021 was presided by Dr Sudip Paul, Assistant Professor and Teacher I/C, BME, NEHU, Shillong. He welcomed all dignitaries and all participants to the programme and briefly highlighted the schedules and topics to be covered by the invited speakers.

Dr Ravindra Kumar Soni, Advisor, AICTE New Delhi, who is also heading the E-governance cell of AICTE, while speaking as the Guest of Honour on occasion, mentioned that the theme of the programme is highly appropriate in the present situation and stressed the need to create awareness and to understand the implications of the ongoing pandemic on mental health. The workshop was officially inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Prof. L. J. Singh, Dean, School of Technology, NEHU. The inaugural session was closed with a vote of thanks by Dr Sudip Paul, followed by National Anthem.

The course included around Ten invited lectures by eminent global and Indian speakers who talked in breadth about all aspects of mental health, ranging from stress management to happiness quotient. Each lecture was followed by post-session discussions and answering participant queries.

The three-days programme concluded on 16th December-2021 with the participation of participants, including doctors, clinicians and researchers working in Neuroscience and allied areas,  from India and other countries.
