NEHU Vice Chancellor Prof. P.S. Shukla interacted with SERB sponsored DST Vritika programme wherein five participants from across the country had joined the one month long training and internship program at NEHU from 1st to 31st August, 2022. The programme was organized by the Department of Biomedical Engineering, NEHU, Shillong on the theme “Development of Innovative Healthcare Devices”. Although several applications were received by the Department for joining the month long internship program, only a five participants were selected as per funding agency guidelines after rigorous evaluation process. The programme Coordinator, Dr. Dinesh Bhatia highlighted the importance of the internship and how it would help in shaping the young researchers to take up entrepreneurship and innovation in rapidly changing healthcare sector. Further he stressed upon embracing the path of innovation in the MedTech industry that makes the products and solutions tailored made for the country's opportunities and constraints. He thanked all resource persons and staff members involved in imparting the Vritika Internship programme. Prof. P.S. Shukla, Vice Chancellor, NEHU highlighted what opportunities exist for young minds to visit NEHU and how they can spread the knowledge and expertise gained during the month long training to the outside and in their respective institutes. Further, the learning from the Vritika training would help in shaping their careers and future goals. Dr. Saurabh Dixit, Registrar, NEHU stressed upon the role of innovation in healthcare technology which was felt during COVID pandemic and how it is shaping up in the modern times. Dr. Punit Gautam, Joint Coordinator of the event, gave the vote of thanks and profusely thanked all stakeholders involved in organizing the event successfully in the University.
