National Seminar on Conservation of Biodiversity (NSCB 2022) & Kisan Mela 2022

Two days of “National Seminar on Conservation of Biodiversity (NSCB 2022)” together with Kisan Mela 2022 was organized by Biotech KISAN Hub, North-Eastern Hill University, Tura Campus, Meghalaya under the aegis of DBT, New Delhi sponsored project on 2nd and 3rd September 2022 at the NEHU, Tura Campus, Meghalaya. The inaugural programme was chaired by Prof. Prabha Shankar Shukla, Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor, North-Eastern Hill University, Meghalaya as Chairman; Dr. Balraj Singh, National Coordinator, AICRP on Honey Bees and Pollinator, New Delhi as Chief Guest; Fr. Bivan R. Mukum, Principal, Don Bosco College, Tura, Meghalaya as Guest of Honour; Prof. Sujata Gurudev, Campus In-Charge, North-Eastern Hill University, Tura Campus, Meghalaya as Co-Chairman; and Dr. Arindam Barman, Assistant Professor & Project Coordinator, Department of Horticulture, North-Eastern Hill University, Tura Campus, Meghalaya as organizing secretary. The inauguration programme was hosted by Ms. Amy D Shira, Project Assistant, Biotech KISAN Hub, North-Eastern Hill University, Tura Campus, Meghalaya. Participants from different states of India attended the National seminar and shared their research works in different technical sessions of the seminar. The level of participants in the National seminar was students, research scholars, Govt. officials, mid-career scientists, university and college teachers, farmers etc. There were a total of 65 and 21 oral and poster presentations respectively. Thorough knowledge of biodiversity and its conservation aspects at the macro and micro level was disseminated by different keynote speakers and participants to build the know-how and provide exposure regarding the recent trends in the field of biodiversity and its conservation. Two products of Biotech KISAN Hub, NEHU, Tura Campus, Meghalaya i.e vermicompost and packed dry stevia leaves were also released during the National seminar.

Farmers, NE-Grass Root Innovators, entrepreneurs, startups etc from different parts of Meghalaya and other states of Northeast India took part in the Kisan Mela 2022. The open Floor Meeting of Farmers, NE-Grass Root Innovators, Perspective Entrepreneurs etc with Directors/ Senior Government Officials/Officials from Funding agencies, heads of the Institutions, Programme/Project coordinators etc held during the Kisan Mela 2022 helped to take policy decisions to come with a possible solution for societal development.
