International Conference on Environment and Sustainable Development (ICESD 2022) organised

Two days of “International Conference on Environment and Sustainable Development (ICESD 2022) under the Theme: Emerging Trends in Agriculture, Life Science and Applied Computing” was organized by Biotech KISAN Hub, North-Eastern Hill University, Tura Campus, Meghalaya in collaboration with Department of Computer Application, NEHU, Tura Campus, Meghalaya under the aegis of DBT, New Delhi sponsored project on 24th and 25th November 2022 at NEHU, Tura Campus, Meghalaya. The inaugural programme was chaired by Prof. Sujata Gurudev, Campus In-Charge, North-Eastern Hill University, Tura Campus Meghalaya as Chairman; Shri. Rakkam A Sangma, Chairman Meghalaya Health Advisory Board and Member of Legislative Assembly (58-Rongara- Siju) as Chief Guest; Prof. Dr. Uzzal Kumar Prodhan, Professor, Dept. of Computer Science and Engineering, Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University, Bangladesh as Guest of Honour; Dr. Wang Gyeltshan, Royal Bhutan University, Bhutan as special guest; Mr. Christiaan Bosman, Onelietech, South Africa as special guest; Dr. Arindam Barman, Assistant Professor & Project Coordinator, Department of Horticulture, North-Eastern Hill University, Tura Campus, Meghalaya as organizing secretary; and Dr. Rubul Kumar Bania, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Application, North-Eastern Hill University, Tura Campus, Meghalaya as organizing secretary. The inauguration programme was hosted by Ms. Amy D Shira, Project Assistant, Biotech KISAN Hub, North-Eastern Hill University, Tura Campus, Meghalaya. Participants from different parts of India and abroad attended the international conference and shared their research works in different technical sessions of the conference. The level of participants in the international conference was students, research scholars, Govt. officials, mid-career scientists, university and college teachers, policy makers etc. There were a total of 75 and 18 oral and poster presentations respectively. The main focus of ICESD 2022 was to create a common platform to showcase the emerging trends in agriculture, life science and applied computing by resource persons and participants across the Globe to create an environment conducive for the development of local indigenous technologies and innovations and to achieve the deliverables of the sustainable development goals through R&D interventions. Thorough knowledge of environment and sustainable development aspects at the macro and micro level was disseminated by different keynote speakers and participants to build the know-how and provide exposure regarding the recent trends in the field of environment and sustainable development to offer an opportunity to drive new paradigm shifts in Science and Technology frontiers to take policy decisions to come with a possible solution for societal and sustainable development. The ICESD 2022 successfully concluded with a trip to Nokrek Biosphere Reserve, Meghalaya.
