The UGC Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC) is organizing a two weeks Refresher Course in Biomedical on the theme “Advancements in Healthcare Technologies” in collaboration with the Department of Biomedical Engineering, NEHU, Shillong from 1st to 15th March, 2023. The course is being attended by more than 30 faculty members from different institutes pan India. Several prominent academicians, experts and industry resource persons would be sharing the insights with the course participants during the course.
The course was inaugurated on 1st March, 2023 by Prof. Iftekhar Hussain, Dean, School of Techonology who was the Chief Guest, NEHU, Prof.Prasenjit Biswas, Officer Incharge, Office of International Affairs as Guest of Honor, Prof. H.K. Mishra, Director, HRDC, NEHU, Dr. K.B. Das, Faculty, HRDC, NEHU, Dr. Dinesh Bhatia, Course Coordinator and Dr.PunitGautam, Course Co-coordinator.
During her welcome speech, Dr. K.B. Das welcomed the participants on behalf of the HRDC and NEHU. Dr. D. Bhatia, the Course Coordinator outlined the objectives of the course, the mode of conduct and the background of experts who would be interacting with the participants over the next two weeks. Prof. Mishra, highlighted the various activities being conducted by the HRDC and how the Refresher course plays an important role in the learning and performance improvement of faculty members. He impressed upon the diversity of the course participants and enrolment of higher number of female faculty members in the refresher course. He requested participants to take keen interest and interact with experts and in their group for meaningful outcome. The Chief Guest Prof. Hussain highlighted the role of transformation from Industry 4.0 to Industry 5.0 and how technology is changing at a rapid pace. Hence, need to keep abreast with recent technological trends where such courses play a pivotal role. He emphasized on role of NEP 2020 which allows intermingling of different disciplines.
Prof. Biswas highlighted on the need for higher learning and engaging oneself to acquire new skills and knowledge so as to contribute their best in the field of work. He hoped participants would immensely benefit from such courses to enlighten themselves and adapt to recent advancements in the field.
Dr.PunitGautam delivered the vote of thanks by thanking all involved in the smooth conduct of the event and the course participants who had joined from all parts of the country for this Refresher Course.
