Journalism and Mass Communication Department conducts Outreach Program: DOPE Drugs Outreach Program and Education

In a proactive effort to address the growing concern of drug abuse among school children, the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication NEHU in collaboration with the "National Health Mission" implemented a triumphant "Drugs  Outreach Programme and Education" on the 19th of July'23  at Kelian Memorial School Shillong. The programme involved a skit enactment and a powerpoint demonstration by the students of the department of journalism and mass communication. The programme had been prorated into two sessions with the prior curated for the students of standard 5-8 and later predominantly for the standard 9-10.

The Drug Outreach Programme and Education yields reduction in drug abuse among school kids and henceforth cultivating the young minds of its ill effects and abhorrent repercussions. The programme had a significant positive insight with a vigorous involvement from the students part. The inculcation of the programmes objectives reverberated among the students and hence deemed to be of great success. The programme yielded promising results, showcasing its effectiveness in empowering students to make informed decisions.

The commendable cooperation of the school authorities also affixed to the outgoing performances. The Drug Outreach Programme at Kelian Memorial School has proven to be an effective approach in raising awareness and preventing drug abuse among students.By equipping young minds with valuable knowledge and decision-making skills,the department of journalism and mass communication has taken significant strides towards creating a safer and more resilient student community.
