The conference hall of the Administrative Building buzzed with excitement as the university community, including students, faculty, and staff, gathered to witness India's remarkable achievement in space exploration. The event was chaired by the Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Prabha Shankar Shukla, alongside other esteemed faculty members, including Prof. D. K. Nayak, Prof. S. R. Joshi, Prof. R. L. Nongkhlaw, and the jubilant students.
The live streaming was not only confined to the Conference Hall; it extended to various departments across the campus. The Department of Biomedical Engineering, the Mathematics department, the Department of Sociology, the Department of Geology, the Department of Political Science, the Department of Biochemistry, the Department of Geography, and the Department of Library and Information Science all organized live streaming sessions. This widespread engagement highlighted the significance of Chandrayaan-3's achievement, fostering a sense of unity and inspiration among the academic community.
On the evening of August 23rd, 2023, in a room within the Science Cluster building, a group of students and faculty members from the Mathematics department gathered to witness the suspenseful descent of Chandrayaan-3. As the spacecraft neared the lunar surface, the tension was palpable. The confirmation of the touchdown was met with jubilation, captured through photos that showcased the joy and excitement in the room. This event not only celebrated India's scientific prowess but also served as a source of inspiration for the academic community.
The Department of Biomedical Engineering, School of Technology, NEHU, gathered its members in Classroom 1 through a Smart Board to watch the historic landing. This event was particularly meaningful as it inspired students and younger generations to aspire to greater heights in their careers.
Similarly, the Department of Sociology also organized a viewing session for faculty members, MA students, and Ph.D. scholars. The pride in witnessing India's historic achievement was evident as they witnessed the live broadcast of Chandrayaan-3's successful landing.
The Department of Geology, in collaboration with the National Institute of Disaster Management, incorporated the live streaming into a training program on "Resilient Infrastructure for Hilly Regions." This unique setting allowed faculty, students, and participants of the training program to collectively witness the momentous event.
Other departments, including Political Science, Biochemistry, Geography, and Library and Information Science, also actively participated in the live streaming, showcasing the widespread enthusiasm for India's space endeavors.
