Short Term Course on Telemedicine and Digital Health inaugurated at NEHU

A Short term course on "Telemedicine and Digital Health" being organized by UGC- Malviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (MMTTC), and Department of Biomedical Engineering, North Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong from 4th to 9th March, 2024 was inaugurated today. The course is being attended by close to 30 participants comprising of faculty members and research scholars from all parts of the country. The resource persons from different prestigious institutes of India working in hospital, academia or industry are sharing their knowledge and expertise with the participants during this week long course.

Dr. Kuheli Biswas, faculty at UGC-MMTTC welcomed the course participants and distinguished guests.

 Speaking at the outset the course coordinator Dr. Dinesh Bhatia apprised the benefits of organizing such courses and how it bridges the gap between different sectors by improving knowledge and enhancing skills. Such courses allows communication, understanding and acts as a bridge between hospital, academia and industry to exchange technical know-how. Prof. Quendarisa Kharbuli, the Director Incharge emphasized the task of UGC-MMTTC centre and how it plays a pivotal role to improve the skills and knowledge of participants attending different such courses being floated by the Centre throughout the year.

Prof. S.S. Ray, Head, Biomedical Engineering Department and Guest of Honor apprised the role of Artificial Intelligence in healthcare in the 21st century. He emphasized how the technology is shaping the healthcare sector and playing a vital role in connecting the patient with the physician.

In his concluding remarks, Dr. Sudip Paul thanked the organizers as well the participants for taking keen interest in this upcoming and growing area. He thanked the MMTTC centre and University for providing the infrastructural facilities and due support in organizing such programmes.
