The North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong celebrated India's 74th Independence Day on August 15th, 2020 in front of the Administrative Block, permanent campus.
The programme was a low key affair due to the Covid-19 pandemic while maintaining social distancing.
After a flag hoisting Prof. S.K. Srivastava, Vice-Chancellor, NEHU in the presence of the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Deans, Registrar, Controller of Examinations, Heads of Departments, faculty members, officers, non-teaching staff and students, recalled the sacrifices of the freedom fighters. He added that the world is presently fighting for another kind of freedom, i.e. freedom from a pandemic like Covid-19. The Vice-Chancellor added that education done right can help overcome the crisis.
