NEHU celebrates Mahatma Gandhi’s Birth Anniversary

The North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong organised a special programme on the eve of Mahatma Gandhi's 151 birth anniversary on the theme "Relevance of Mahatma Gandhi in the context of Self-Reliant North East", in the VC Conference Room, permanent campus on 1st October, 2020. The programme was a low key affair due to the Covid-19 pandemic while maintaining social distancing.

Prof. M.P.Pandey, Department of Hindi and convener of the programme welcomed all the distinguished participants to the programme which was chaired by Prof. S.K.Srivastava, Vice-Chancellor, NEHU.

The programme included brief lectures on the theme. While Dr. Binayak Dutta, Department of History touched on the historical aspect, Prof. A.Pati, Dean, School of Economics, Management etc and Prof. B.Panda, honorary Director of Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) elaborated on the socio-economic. Prof. H. Lamin, Pro Vice- Chancellor, NEHU and Dr. J.N.Nayak, Registrar, NEHU also spoke on the occasion.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks followed by the national anthem.
