As part of the Vigilance Awareness Week being observed by the Central Vigilance Commission on the theme Satark Bharat, Samriddh Bharat (Vigilant India, Prosperous India) from 27th October to 2nd November, 2020, the North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong took the Integrity Pledge circulated by the Commission on 29th October, 2020 in front of the Administrative Block, permanent campus.
Leading the pledge-taking, Prof. S.K. Srivastava, Vice-Chancellor, NEHU, underlined the importance of the proverb 'honesty is the best policy'. "We should rededicate ourselves to the service of NEHU, to the region and the country with the most integrity, transparency, honesty and accountability," Prof. Srivastava said adding that there should be zero tolerance to corruption.
The Vice-Chancellor also stressed on the need to be vigilant in order to uphold integrity in all aspects of life like time bound disposal of work, etc.
The Central Vigilance Commission observes the Awareness Week during the week in which the birthday of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel (31st October) falls.
