Advertisement for Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in Chemistry Department for a DST (SERB)-funded research project

Applications are invited for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in a DST(SERB)-funded research project with following details:

Title of the project: Photophysical Studies on polypyridyl complexes: Towards the development of nanoscopic fluorescent targets.

Work component: The whole work of the project involves two principle components: (i) Design, synthesis & characterization of polypyridyl derivatives and their metal complexes; (ii) Studying
the photophysical behavior of the synthesized compounds through (time-resolved) fluorescence and phosphorescence techniques.

Name of the position: Junior Research Fellow (01 No)

Essential qualifications: M. Sc. (Chemistry) or equivalent degree with a minimum of 60% aggregate score (6.5 grade points on a scale of 10). For SC/ST category, the candidate must have secured a minimum of 55% aggregate score (6.0 grade points on a scale of 10) in masters’ degree.
In addition, the candidate must have qualified CSIR-UGC National Eligibility Test JRF-NET including LS/ Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). 

Non-NET/GATE candidate can also apply for the same. However, selection of these candidates is subject to the approval of funding authority.

Age limit: The upper age limit is 28 years at the time of appointment.

Fellowship: Rs. 31,000/- per month (plus HRA) for 1st and 2nd Years, and Rs.35,000/-per month (plus HRA) for 3rd Year, shall be applicable only if candidates(s) met educational qualification
and eligibility criteria as per DST OM No. SR/S9/Z-08/2018 dated 30.01.2019. However, Non-NET/GATE candidate may be considered for Rs. 12,000/- per month (plus HRA) as per old norms (subject to the approval from funding authority).

Duration: Three years or up to the termination of project (whichever comes earlier).

The Investigators of the project reserve the right to fill or not fill the JRF position or withdraw the notification at any point of time and in any conflict, the decision of the investigators and Institute (NEHU) will be final.

Note: The candidate selected for the position of JRF will have the option to register for Ph. D. program at the Department of Chemistry, NEHU, Shillong. However, for admission to Ph. D. program, the candidate must follow the prescribed eligibility requirements of the Department/NEHU.
