Refresher Course in Biotechnology & Bioinformatics at NEHU, Shillong

The Department of Biotechnology & Bioinformatics, North-Eastern Hill University Shillong is conducting a two weeks Refresher Course in 'Biotechnology & Bioinformatics' from 23rd August 2021 till 6th Sept 2021 for College & University teachers at UGC-HRDC NEHU, Shillong. The inaugural function was held on 23rd Sept 2021 at UGC HRDC NEHU. In the function, Prof. P.S Shukla, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, NEHU presided over as the Chief Guest and Prof. N.K Chrungoo, Dean School of Life sciences was the Guest of Honor.

Prof S.R. Joshi, Head, Department of Biotechnology & Bioinformatics, NEHU in his opening remarks, extended a warm welcome to the dignitaries and participants and expressed his happiness that the department is organizing such program for first time since its inception and a diverse range of topics are incorporated for the course in the emerging areas of Biotechnology.

Prof. S.R Rao, Director in charge HRDC, NEHU in his speech elaborated on the various academic activities of the Centre. Dr. A Bhattacharjee, course coordinator, Department of Biotechnology & Bioinformatics apprised the participants and dignitaries on the genesis of the course and elaborated on the course content wherein experts from various domains of Biotechnology would be delivering quality lectures to the participants.

He also informed that 40 participants from various parts of the country from Biology background are attending the course. Prof. NK Chrungoo. Dean School of Life Sciences appreciated the department for organizing the course and encouraged the participants to take the opportunity and have a good learning experience.

Prof. P.S Shukla, Hon’ble Vice chancellor in his speech highlighted the importance of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics in modern day science starting from Pharmaceuticals to agriculture. Prof. Shukla encouraged the department to carry on with such activities in days to come. Dr S. Majaw, Department of Biotechnology & Bioinformatics, thanked the dignitaries & participants for their kind presence.
