4th Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav Webinar on â??NATIONAL EDUCATION POLICY, 2020: TOWARDS AN EQUITABLE AND INCLUSIVE SOCIETYâ?

The Fourth Webinar of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav Webinar Series on “NATIONAL EDUCATION POLICY, 2020: TOWARDS AN EQUITABLE AND INCLUSIVE SOCIETY” was organised jointly by NEHU, Tura Campus, India and ICSSR-NERC, Shillong, India in association with CTEF- Meghalaya and CTEF- Assam Chapter on 18th May, 2022. Keynote address was delivered by Dr. Vedprakash Mishra, Hon’ble Pro-Chancellor of the Datta Meghe Institute of Medical Sciences, Nagpur. Dr. Mishra specifically mentioned the provisions made in NEP2020 for inclusion of the students from different socio-economic backgrounds. He appealed to the teachers to work hard for effective implementation of NEP2020. Resource person and expert, Prof. C. B. Sharma, School of Education, Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi & Former Chairman, National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), Noida highlighted the special features of Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP). He informed that talented students with teaching aptitude will be selected through National Common Entrance Test (NCET) and the selected students will get scholarships. He expected that talented students in the country will prefer to join teaching profession in the coming years. Prof. Nilima Bhagabati, International Secretary General of Council for Teacher Education, India emphasised the need towards maintaining the quality of teacher education. Dr. K. M. Bhandarkar, National President of CTEF, emphasised the significance of NEP 2020 and expressed his deep gratitude towards organisers of the webinar. Guest of Honour Prof. B. Panda, Honorary Director, ICSSR-NERC shared his thoughts and insights about NEP 2020 with the participants. The vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Deepak Bhagat, Associate Professor, Department of Management, NEHU, Tura Campus and Coordinator of the “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav Webinar Series”. The webinar saw attendance of numbers of participants from different educational institutes of India.
