Global Hospitality and Tourism Conference on Contemporary Marketing Paradigms (GHTC-2022) organized

The Global Hospitality and Tourism Conference on Contemporary Marketing Paradigms (GHTC-2022) was organized by the Department of Tourism and Hotel Management, North Eastern Hill University, Shillong, Meghalaya, in collaboration with the Centre for Management Studies, North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology, Nirjuli, Arunachal Pradesh. The three days GHTC-2022 conference was held in NERIST, Nirjuli, from 27^th - 29^th July, 2022. Ministry of Tourism, Government of India; Department of Tourism, Arunachal Pradesh; NABARD, Arunachal Pradesh, and ICSSR- NERC have offered financial assistance for organizing the conference.

The conference was conducted in hybrid mode with dignitaries and participants from all over the world. The inaugural session was held on July 27^th, 2022, starting with the National Anthem, which was followed by the Felicitation of Guests and the Lighting of the Lamp. Dr. Bijoylaxmi Sarmah (Conference Chair GHTC-2022) gave the welcome address. The conference introduction was given by Prof. Saurabh Kumar Dixit (Conference Chair GHTC-2022). After that, all the dignitaries on the dice were requested to release GHTC- 2022 Souvenir, followed by the address by Mr. Partho Saha, G. M, NABARD Arunachal Pradesh; Prof. Tomo Riba from RGU. Prof. Metin KOZAK from Kadir Has University, Istanbul, Turkey, delivered the Keynote Address, who joined the event through online mode.

Prof.  Prabha Shankar Shukla, Vice-Chancellor, North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong, Meghalaya, was the Chief Guest of the event. His address was followed by the Chairman’s address by Prof. H.S.Yadav, Director, NERIST. There was a flute performance by Siddhartha Shankar Saikia followed by the vote of thanks offered by Dr. Madhusudhan Mishra from NERIST.

After the inaugural session, a panel discussion was held on PROSPECTS AND CHALLENGES OF TOURISM IN ARUNACHAL PRADESH. The panelists were Prof.Tomo Riba from RGU, Prof. Kishor Goswami from IIT Kharagpur, Mr. Dugh Saha from KVIC, Itanagar, Mr. Mojum Riba, from Wild Horn Adventure, Tour Operator, Mr. Yomjum Yomgam from YMCA, and Mr. Tsering Wange from Himalayan Holidays Arunachal Pradesh. The event was moderated by Prof. Tomo Riba.

Post Lunch, the Plenary Session was delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Jay Kandampully, Professor of Service and Hospitality, The Ohio State University, USA. During the session he highlighted the different important aspects of services marketing. Simultaneously technical session one was conducted on the topic of Travel, Tourism & Hospitality/ Marketing Strategy. The session Chairs were Prof. Kishor Goswami from IIT Kharagpur; Dr. Sandeep Walia from Lovely Professional University, Punjab; Mr. Rahul Kumar Gupta from Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, New Delhi and Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Saxena from Assam University, Silchar. A total of 8 paper presentations were held during this session.

The day ended with a Parallel Technical Session II on the topic of Services Marketing/ Marketing Strategy, chaired by  Dr. Debabrata Das, VC, The Assam Rajiv Gandhi University of Cooperative Management, Assam Dr. Bijoylaxmi Sarmah, NERIST, and Prof. U.K. De, NEHU, Shillong. This session had nine paper presentations.

The second day started with TECHNICAL SESSION III: Consumer Behaviour/ Tourist Behaviour/ Ethical Marketing/Marketing Strategy. The session chairs were Dr. Reyaz A Qureshi from the University of Kashmir Srinagar J&K Dr. Momocha Singh from NIT, A.P; Dr. S. Thappa, R.G.U, A.P and Dr. Shampy Kamboj, NIT Hamirpur. During this technical session, 9 papers were presented. After this panel discussion on Marketing of Food and Beverage Tourism where Prof. Roberta Garibaldi from University of Bergamo, Italy;  Mr. Rajeev Goyal from India Food Tourism Organisation; Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Saxena from Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management, Assam University, Silchar; Dr. Sandeep Walia, Professor & Deputy Dean from Lovely Professional University, Punjab; and Dr Reyaz A Qureshi from University of Kashmir Srinagar J&K wre the panellists. The session was moderated by Prof. Saurabh Kumar Dixit (Conference Chair GHTC-2022).

Post Lunch, the fourth technical session was held, which was chaired by Prof. Arnab Bandopadhyay from NERIST; Dr. Madhusudhan Mishra from NERIST; Dr. Amitabh Mishra from the University of Technology and Applied Sciences, Ibri, Oman and Dr. Zeeshan from Delhi University. This technical session was presented by 10 research papers. The day ended with cultural performances.

The final day of the conference had a valedictory session, where the Conference Chair, Prof. Saurabh Kumar Dixit, delivered the welcome address. It was followed by the technical session report presentation by Ms. Angshumi Goswami. After this, the participants were requested to share their feedback on the conference. Afterward, the guest of honor, Dr. Amitabh Mishra from Oman, shared his views. The session was also addressed by Mr. Rahul Kumar Gupta, as the Chief Guest for the event. Finally, the conference ended with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Madhusudhan Mishra from NERIST.
