An inauguration programme for the Field Demonstration Unit of Biotech KISAN Hub, North-Eastern Hill University, Tura Campus, Meghalaya was organized by Biotech KISAN Hub, NEHU, Tura Campus, Meghalaya on 09/12/2022 at NEHU, Tura Campus, Meghalaya. The Field Demonstration Unit of Biotech KISAN Hub, NEHU, Tura Campus, Meghalaya was inaugurated by Prof. Prabha Shankar Shukla, Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor, North-Eastern Hill University, Meghalaya in the presence of Prof. Sujata Gurudev, Campus In-Charge, North-Eastern Hill University, Tura Campus, Meghalaya and Dr. Arindam Barman, Project Coordinator (Biotech KISAN Hub) & Assistant Professor, Department of Horticulture, NEHU, Tura Campus, Meghalaya. The Field Demonstration Unit comprised with Mushroom growing unit, low cost shade net crop growing unit, composting unit, nursery unit, open field cultivation unit, stevia cultivation unit etc. The purpose of the Field Demonstration Unit is to provide an on field demonstration for the recent technologies in the field of agriculture for crop cultivation to the farmers and also to train them with the recent technologies. Besides growing of crops, mushroom cultivation in low cost structure and rapid compositing with locally available materials etc are also an important component of the demonstration unit. Ms. Neha M. Sangma, Project Assistant, Biotech KISAN Hub, NEHU, Tura Campus, Meghalaya and Amy D. Shira, Project Activity Assistant, Biotech KISAN Hub, NEHU, Tura Campus, Meghalaya are actively involved in the various activities of the unit. The major high value vegetable crops taken in the demonstration unit are Naga Chilli, Capsicum, Tomato etc. The main aim of the Field Demonstration Unit is to upgrade the skills of prospective farmers for the recent technologies through on field training to increase the crop production as well as income and work for the societal development.
