Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp gets underway in NEHU

The Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp (EAC) sponsored by the National Science & Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board (NSTEDB), Department of Science and Technology (DST), GoI got underway in the NEHU campus. The course is being organized by the Department of Biomedical Engineering, NEHU sponsored by Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI), Ahmedabad from 20th to 22nd April, 2023. More than 75 students from the different backgrounds are attending this three days camp. The experts from industry and academia who would be deliberating with the participants to make them aware about entrepreneurship, start-up, innovation, marketing an idea and generation of resources for product commercialization.  This is the second EAC camp being organized after the last camp organized in month of March, 2023.

The course was inaugurated on 20th April, 2023 by Prof. Iftekhar Hussain, Dean, School of Technology who was the Chief Guest, NEHU, Dr. Nilesh Trivedi, Assistant Director, MSME, Tura as Guest of Honour, Dr. P. Khongji, Head, BSSS, NEHU, Dr. Sudip Paul, Teacher-In-charge, BME Department, NEHU, Dr. Dinesh Bhatia, Course Coordinator and Dr. Punit Gautam, Course Co-coordinator.

During the welcome speech, Dr. D. Bhatia, the Course Coordinator outlined the objectives of organizing the awareness camp for young entrepreneurs and how it would benefit the society in the long run. He highlighted the available opportunities and challenges for the young entrepreneurs who wish to venture in the field of start-ups and innovations especially when India has recently become as the world’s most populous country overtaking China. He profusely thanked both the Central and State governments for their whole hearted support in organizing such camps in the region from time to time. Dr. Nilesh Trivedi highlighted the role of MSME and Govt of India in promoting entrepreneurship and innovation, the available opportunities and different funding opportunities available in supporting such initiatives.  Dr. P. Khongji was happy to note that the Entrepreneurship camp would serve the desired purpose and lauded the role of his Department in initiating this venture.

 

The Chief Guest Prof. Hussain highlighted the role of start-ups and entrepreneur and how they can shape the country in the near future. He promoted the idea to have data centres and suitable market opportunities in the North-East region, so that young individuals may benefit and may reach their potential.  He highlighted the need to keep abreast with recent technological trends where such courses play a pivotal role and help connect people with rapid changing developments.

Dr. S. Paul, highlighted the role of technology and how it could be employed to meet the needs of industry and self-sustain the technological advancements.

Dr. Punit Gautam delivered the vote of thanks by thanking all involved from the University and outside in the smooth conduct of the event and the course participants and resource persons who had joined for this awareness camp.
