NEHU organizes Solve for Tomorrow 2025 challenge in collaboration with Samsung

The Entrepreneurship Development Centre, North Eastern Hill University, Shillong in collaboration with the Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer (FITT), IIT Delhi and Samsung organized an Orientation Workshop on “Solve for Tomorrow” on the theme Design thinking for the young budding innovators in the age group 14-22 years at the Golden Jubilee auditorium, NEHU, Shillong on 23rd June, 2025. The event was attended by students, faculty members, school children and young budding entrepreneurs from the state. The Workshop aimed to empower attendees with problem-solving, critical thinking, and ideation skills through hands-on Design Thinking methodologies.

In his opening remarks, Prof. Dinesh Bhatia, Head, Entrepreneurship Development Centre, NEHU highlighted on importance of such events in context of promoting Entrepreneurship, Startup and Innovation in educational institutes as per the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and how the outcomes from such events would be beneficial for the society in the long run.  He also thanked the Samsung and IIT Delhi team for hosting the event in the state of Meghalaya and all the attendees who too interest to participate in the programme.

Ms. Vanita Vasudev from FITT, IIT Delhi presented the different themes chosen for this year which include AI for safer, smarter and inclusive Bharat; Social change through Sport &Tech: For Education and Better Futures; Future of health, hygiene and wellbeing in India and Environmental Sustainability via technology. She answered specific queries from the participants with regards to the comptetion. Prizes and awards were handed over attendees who participated in the different interactive sessions and showed their enthusiasm during the event. A special award was handed over by Samsung to the NEHU team comprising of Mr. Bashankur Buhroy and Mr. Eleazer from NEHU who had competed last year in Samsung “Solve for tomorrow” challenge 2024 and stood in the top 50 from pan India. 

The challenge has prizes in different categories for successful entries starting from Rs. 4 lakhs with the maximum prize being Rs. 1 crore for the top 4 winning teams.  The successful teams would be mentored in the state-of-the-art labs in IIT Delhi, called for innovation bootcamps by Samsung R&D Centres and connect with investors to help them transform their ideas into reality.
