The Indo-Bhutan Friendship Workshop on "Application of AI, IoT, and Robotics for Sustainable Development and Climate Change Mitigation" presents a unique platform that combines technological innovation with the cultural richness of India and Bhutan. This techno-cultural workshop aims to address pressing global challenges—particularly climate change and sustainability—while fostering mutual learning and collaboration between the two neighboring nations. The Workshop was inaugurated by Sh. G. Ajith Kumar, Consulate General of India to Phuentsholing, Bhutan on 28th October, 2025 at JNEC, Bhutan in presence of other official guests and dignitaries.
Climate change is a serious issue, globally, and the whole world is fighting against it. To effectively resolve the issue of climate change, engineers must be trained effectively, and everyone, regardless of their field, can contribute to it. The message of collective responsibility needs to be passed to all. Art, as a powerful medium, plays a crucial role in creating awareness and inspiring action. This workshop aims to harness the power of both technology and art to spread the message of sustainability, ensuring that the solutions and the urgency of addressing climate change reach a wider audience. By bridging the gap between cutting-edge technology and cultural expression, the workshop seeks to inspire innovative approaches to climate change mitigation, involving engineers, artists, and the community alike.
The primary objective is to educate and inspire students and young professionals to leverage both emerging technologies and cultural art forms in the fight against climate change. While AI, IoT, and Robotics offer powerful tools for sustainable solutions, artistic expression can play an equally vital role in raising awareness, mobilizing communities, and conveying powerful environmental messages. A central feature of the workshop is the Indo-Bhutan fusion of performing arts, thematically centered around climate action.
Prof. S. Umdor, Pro-Vice Chancellor, NEHU, Shillong extended his best wishes to the delegation from NEHU and organizers of the event for a successful meeting and enriching the knowledge of young minds about the importance of mitigating climate change, preserving nature and providing a sustainable ecosystem for survival of life on the Mother Earth.
