The Regional Outreach Program on “Igniting Young Minds Through Science & Space” was successfully conducted on 19th November 2025 at the Golden Jubilee Auditorium, North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong jointly organized by Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), Bengaluru, North Eastern Space Applications Centre (NESAC), Umiam, Department of Physics, North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong. The program aimed at fostering scientific curiosity, promoting space education, and inspiring young students to explore emerging frontiers in science and technology.
The event brought together students, researchers, teachers, and science enthusiasts from various institutions across the region. Distinguished scientists, academicians, and experts delivered engaging talks on space science, emerging technologies, satellite applications, career opportunities, and India’s expanding role in global space exploration. Demonstrations, interactive sessions, and thematic presentations further enriched the learning experience.
Speaking on the occasion, the dignitaries Prof. S. Umdor Pro-VC NEHU Shillong campus emphasized the importance of nurturing scientific temperament among the younger generation. Guest of honor of the event Dr. S. P. Aggrawal Director NESAC highlighted India’s achievements in space missions, astronomy, and technological innovation. Special Guest Dr. Tirath Pratim Das Director, Science Program Office, ISRO HQ, Bengaluru encouraged students to pursue careers in research, innovation, and space-related fields, reinforcing the program’s mission of motivating and empowering young minds.
Prof. P.K. Patra Head Department of Physics shares his view regarding the outreach program served as a meaningful platform for knowledge exchange, providing students with exposure to advanced scientific concepts and real-world applications. The enthusiastic participation from youth, coupled with the expertise shared by invited speakers, made the event a resounding success.
