Dean Student's Welfare office organized awareness program on the Menace of Ragging

As part of Anti-Ragging Day & Week observation 2026, the Dean Student's Welfare office, NEHU, organized an awareness program on the Menace of Ragging on 18th August 2026 at the Multi-Use Convention Hall, NEHU, Shillong. This program was attended by Class Representatives (from all semesters and departments), Prefects, mess Secretaries of all hostels, Anti-Ragging Squad members, Anti-Ragging Committee members, and Students Counseling Committee members of NEHU. In his welcome address, the Dean of Students' Welfare, NEHU, Prof. Kitlangki Suchiang, reiterated that collective commitment is essential to making the NEHU campus a secure, welcoming, and inclusive home for every single student. Prof. Marco Babit Mitri, Proctor of NEHU, informed the Students about the various steps and protocols that the University authority has put in place to ensure that the NEHU campus remains peaceful and that a disciplinary climate prevails in the campus. In his keynote address, Sir Bipul Das, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Crime branch), Shillong, Meghalaya informed the Students about the different forms of ragging, students' rights, and the strict legal consequences and penal laws surrounding it. The program ended with Assistant Registrar (i/c) security, Dr. Deiborlang Nongsiang, reading the anti-ragging pledge along with all the attendees as part of their commitments and efforts to end the menace of ragging in higher Institutions.
