The Department of Physics, North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong, is organizing the International Conference on Emerging Trends in Physics for Sustainable Development (ICETPSD-2026) from 23–25 September 2026 as part of the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of the Department of Physics, NEHU.
The conference aims to provide an international platform for academicians, scientists, researchers, industry professionals, research scholars and students to exchange knowledge and discuss recent developments in physics and their applications towards sustainable development. The event brings together experts from India and abroad to explore emerging research areas, promote interdisciplinary collaboration, and encourage young researchers in science and technology.
The major themes of the conference include Sustainable Development and Environmental Physics, Materials Science and Functional Materials, Renewable Energy and Energy Storage, Space Science and Technology, Nuclear and Radiation Physics, Lasers and Photonics, Spectroscopy, Computational Physics, Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, Luminescence and Phosphor Materials, and emerging areas of modern physics.
ICETPSD-2026 has received participation and research contributions from India and several countries, including the USA, Poland, Serbia and Nepal. More than 100 research papers and abstracts are being presented through invited talks, oral presentations and poster presentations. The conference provides opportunities for participants to interact with eminent scientists and experts, share their research findings, and establish academic and research collaborations.
The conference also gives special emphasis to the participation of young researchers, Ph.D. scholars and postgraduate students, providing them with an opportunity to present their work before an international scientific audience. Through scientific deliberations and knowledge exchange, the conference seeks to inspire innovative research and contribute to the development of sustainable technological solutions.
The conference is being organized under the leadership of Dr.Vikas Dubey, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Physics, NEHU, Shillong, as Convener, with the support of the faculty members, organizing committee and the University administration.
ICETPSD-2026 is supported through financial and institutional assistance from various organizations, including the North Eastern Council (NEC), Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF), Board of Research in Nuclear Sciences (BRNS), and North Eastern Space Applications Centre (NESAC).
The conference forms an important part of the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the Department of Physics, NEHU, marking five decades of teaching, research and academic contributions in the field of physics. It is expected to strengthen scientific collaboration, promote interdisciplinary research and highlight the role of physics in addressing contemporary challenges related to sustainable development.
