The faculty, staff and students led by the Vice-Chancellor of North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong celebrated the 70th Constitution Day on November 26, 2019 in the campus.
To commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India, there was a reading of the Preamble of the Constitution of India, followed by the live stream of the programme in New Delhi, at the VC Conference Room, Administrative Building, NEHU.
In addition to this, there was a lecture on the Continuity and Change in the Indian Constitution by Shri H S Thangkhiew, Hon’ble Judge of the Meghalaya High Court, Shillong.
Every year on this day, back in 1949, the Constituent Assembly of India formally adopted the Constitution of India, which came into effect on January 26, 1950.
It is also known as National Law Day or Samvidhan Divas.
