The main purpose of the workshop is to strengthen the library professionals technically so as to meet the new challenges in the field of Metadata Standard. The content of this workshop is designed in such a way to equip the professional with various Metadata Standard used while capturing Bibliographic data from various sources, which will help the professionals to manage and retrieve bibliographic records according to global standard.

Objectives:

• To create awareness among professionals about Metadata standard which is used in Library Management Software.
• To equip with latest advancement in the field of metadata standard which will enable them to create Descriptive Bibliographic record.

This workshop will cover the Tutorial, Hands-on Session & Demonstration of different topics:

• Open Source Software 
• About Metadata and Metadata types
• Hand on Practice in MARC, UNIMARC and Dublin Core
• Customization of Metadata in Different Library Management Software
• Detailed discussion on Cataloguing MARC-21 framework
• Discussion about OAI-PHM

Target Audience:

Workshop in intended for Library & Information Science Professionals, Researchers & LIS Students. Registration is limited to 30 participants on first come first serve basis.

Accommodation in NEHU Guest house will be confirmed before 10 days of the event subject to availability. However, accommodation in Guest House will also be provided on payment. (Single Room: INR.1500 per day and INR. 750 per day on sharing basis.) 

Note: Once registration is done, neither registration will be cancelled nor amount will be refunded. However, the registered participant may depute any other participant to attend the workshop with authorization letter.
