  • Review Meeting :
  1. Review meeting on COVID-19: Programme Coordinator, NSS Cell, NEHU attended an online meeting on 10th June 2020.
  2. A review meeting of NSS activities on COVID-19 was held on 27th May 2021 through Google meet.
  3. An online review meeting for Programme Officers on Vidyanjali Initiative was held on 17th December 2021.
  4. An online meeting of the NSS University Advisory Committee was held on 14th March 2022 at the Vice-Chancellor’s Conference Hall.
  • Blood Donation :
  1. World Blood Donors Day 14th June 2020: NSS unit of St. Edmund’s College observed the day by making posters for awareness generation on social media/online purposes. NSS volunteers were also involved in slogan competition organised by the Meghalaya AIDS Control Society, State Blood Transfusion Council and Nazareth Hospital, Shillong.
  2. Mawsynram Border Area College, Mawsynram organized a blood donation camp on 25th November 2021 at the college campus. 30 NSS volunteers registered and 11 donated blood.
  3. NSS unit of Shillong Law College organized a blood donation camp on 26th November 2021 at the college campus in collaboration with Pasteur Institute and Meghalaya AIDS Control Society. 22 NSS volunteers registered and 14 donors donated blood.
  4. As part of World AIDS Day, the NSS unit Synod College, Shillong in collaboration with Dr. H. G. Robert Hospital, Shillong organized a blood donation camp on 1st December 2021 at the college campus. 100 NSS volunteers registered and 30 donors donated blood.
  5. St. Anthony’s College, Shillong organized a blood donation camp on 17th December 2021 at the college campus. 40 NSS volunteers registered and 20 volunteers donated blood.
  6. NSS Unit of Sankardev College organized Awareness cum Blood Donation Camp in collaboration with Regional Blood Bank, Pasteur Institute, Shillong at the College Campus, on 25th March 2022 where 10 volunteers donated blood.
  7. NSS Unit, Union Christian College organizing a blood donation camp on 29th March 2022 as part of observance of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav and Platinum Jubilee of the college at the college campus. Around 121 NSS volunteers registered and 78 volunteers donated blood.
  • Republic Day Parade Camp :
  1. A selection camp for Pre Republic Day Parade was held at NEHU Campus on 16th September 2021. Around 20 NSS volunteers from different colleges participated.
  2. 8 students from Jaintia Eastern College, Shillong College, St. Mary’s College, St. Edmund’s College and BBS college attended the Pre Republic Day Parade Camp, East Zone at CIT, Kokrajhar alongwith Mr. M. Passah, Programme Officer, Kiang Nangbah Government College from 25th October – 3rd November 2021.
  3. Two NSS Volunteers from St. Edmund’s College, Shillong and Jaintia Eastern College, Khliehriat participated at the Republic Day Parade 26th January, 2022 at New Delhi.
  • Workshops/ Trainings/Orientations/Seminars:
  1. TOT on COVID-19 with special emphasis on care of Elderly & persons with co-morbid conditions: Mr. B. Kharkongor, NSS Cell, NEHU alongwith Mr. K. M. Syiem, NSS Programme Officer, Sohra Govt College attended the TOT on 30th June 2020 organised by District Medical & Health Officer, Government of Meghalaya, East Khasi Hills, Shillong.
  2. NSS unit of Snag Syiem College, Mawkyrwat organized a one day workshop on role of volunteers in fighting against Covid-19 on 24th August 2020 at the college campus.
  3. Volunteers of BBS College attended a webinar on Resilience in Crisis from 4th – 9th August 2020.
  4. The NSS unit of NEIGRIHMS in collaboration with the Department of Community Medicine, NEIGRIHMS, Shillong organized a webinar on “Tobacco Free Educational Institutions in Meghalaya” on 14th August 2020.
  5. Volunteers also attended webex meeting on Ek Bharat Shreshta Bharat (EBSB) on 20th August 2020. As part of this, volunteers are also currently preparing videos of local traditional songs and dances for the NSS online Rashtriya Yuva Sangeet Sammelan organized in collaboration with Banaras Hindu University.
  6. Mr. Rishan Jyrwa, NSS programme Officer, Ri-Bhoi College, Nongpoh alongwith 2 NSS volunteers attended the ‘Capacity Building Virtual Workshop’ under the project Yuwaah on 28th November 2020.
  7. On the occasion of International Woman’s Day, the NSS Unit, Union Christian in collaboration with the Women’s Cell, Union Christian College organized a Seminar and Poster Slogan Exhibition. The programme was by the felicitated Dr. J. Mathew, Vice-Principal, Union Christian College and attended by staff, NSS volunteers and students. The programme included speeches by different faculty members and students on success stories in the field of academics, sports, NSS, NCC and sensitizing the audience to gender related issues. The Programme concluded with a Poster Slogan Exhibition prepared by volunteers and students highlighting the women’s and gender issues relevant today.
  8. A webex meeting on the topic: COVID Young warriors with NSS and UNICEF was held on 22nd May 2021 for all State NSS Officers, Programme Coordinators and all District Nodal Officers of North Eastern States.
  9. Another webinar on Building Resilience in times of COVID-19 was held through Google meet on 3rd June 2021 organised by William Carey University. Around 95 participants participated.
  10. The NSS unit of St. Mary’s College, Shillong organized a talk on the occasion of World Food Safety Day on 7th June 2021.
  11. 10 NSS volunteers from different colleges participated at the Online Workshop on Human Rights organized by Directorate of NSS, New Delhi on 21st February 2022.
  12. 15 NSS Programme Officers from different institutions participated at the two day online workshop on Challenges and Opportunities of Youth of North Eastern Region on 3rd and 4th March 2022 organised by RGNIYD, Sriperumbudur, Chennai.
  • NSS Day:
  1. The 51st NSS Foundation Day was observed on 24th September 2020 by conducting an online meet, Vice-Chancellor, NEHU addressed the NSS functionaries.
  2. As part of the 52nd NSS Foundation Day the NSS Cell, NEHU organized a Google Meet on 24th September 2021 with volunteers and Programme Officers of all colleges. The Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof. P. S. Shukla addressed the participants. Dr. Lana E. Nongbri gave a brief talk on “Tobacco and Related Issues-Relevance for Youth” This was followed by a tree plantation programme to commemorate the day at the University Campus which was attended by Vice-Chancellor, Registrar, Programme Coordinator and staff of NSS Cell, NEHU alongwith few Programme Officers owing to the COVID SOPs.
  • Environmental Programmes:
  1. The NSS unit Ri Bhoi college , Nongpoh  conducted  an e-photo and poetry competition (local or English language) through online mode  on 5th June 2020 , based on the theme "Celebrate Biodiversity"
  2. World Environment Day 5th June 2020: NSS units observed the day in various ways by planting saplings in their respective residences and college campuses 273 saplings were planted. The day was also mark by an e-photo and poetry competition, video montage, poster making, slogan for awareness generation through online mode.
  3. Together with the rest of the world, the World Environment Day was observed by the NSS Unit of Shillong College on the 5th June, 2020. This year, due to lockdown restrictions imposed by the government due to COVID-19, the observation was completely done in a different manner. Volunteers were planting tree saplings in their own place of residents under the concept of “My Tree in the Backyard” with the objective to spent some of their times in nurturing and caring for the environment around their backyards which is in tune with this year’s theme “ Time with Nature”. This concept of “My tree in the backyard” also gives the volunteers a sense of responsibility towards protecting their green backyards and not just plant a tree but own a tree. They will nurture and care for the tree they have planted and in due course spent ‘Time with Nature’. Large numbers of volunteers were taking part in this programme in their respective homes, villages and localities and sent a message across the world that there is no stopping them to create hope for the better future.
  4. NSS unit of Loyola College, Williamnagar organised a tree plantations programme at the college campus. Shri M. N. Marak, MLA Williamnagar was the Chief Guest on the occasion. 22 participants including NSS volunteers and alumni of the college took part and a total of 150 saplings were planted in the campus and also distributed to members of the adopted village.   5. Volunteers of Shillong College NSS unit observed the day by planting saplings in their respective residences under the concept of “My Tree in the Background”. 80 students participated and 120 saplings were planted.  (report from college enclosed).
  6. The NSS unit of St. Edmund’s College compiled a video montage of World Environment Day on the theme of Biodiversity.
  7. The NSS unit of Ri-Bhoi College, Nongpoh conducted an e-photo and poetry competition (local or English) through online mode on this day, based on the theme “Celebrate Biodiversity”.     
  8. Volunteers of Kiang Nangbah Government College, Jowai, Umshyrpi College and BBS College, Shillong were involved in poster making for social media/online purposes.
  9. The NSS unit of Shillong College conducted a Cleaning Drive at Lyngkhat Border Haat on the 30th October, 2020 as part of Swaach Bharat Campaign in collaboration with the Lyngkhat Market Committee. 20 volunteers were selected for participation due to the present restriction and SOPs that are being implemented by the Government. The Cleaning Drive started at 9 o’clock in the morning and continue till 5 o’clock in the evening. Before the start of the cleaning drive, a brief programme was held to sensitize the people in that area on the need to maintain cleanliness and hygiene specially during this ongoing pandemic where cleanliness and hygiene is very important. The Sordar of Lyngkhat Elaka welcomed the volunteers and the Programme Officers and thanked them for taking the initiative and mobilize public support for the success of such a very important activity. After the cleaning drive was over, masks and hand sanitizers were distributed to every shop in the market and volunteers were educating the shopkeepers on social distancing norms, hand and personal hygiene to keep oneself and others safe.
  10. In observation of World Environment Day 2021 the NSS Cell, NEHU, Shilong organized an online poster campaign on the theme: “Reimagine, Recreate, Restore” on 5th June 2021. More than 100 NSS volunteers participated.
  11. A tree plantation was organized by Nengmandalgre Baptist Church in collaboration with DFO, Social Forestry Division, East and North Garo Hills along with NSS unit of Tura Government College on 5th June 2021.
  12. Campus cleaning and tree plantation was also organized by the NSS unit of Loyola College on 5th June 2021. Around 30 NSS volunteers, PO and staff participated. A short cover video was done by the NSS volunteer and his companions of Loyola College,Williamnagar. (https://youtu.be/vf3t9HpTzzU)
  13. As part of Van Mahotsav week the NSS unit of Union Christian College conduct a tree plantation drive in the campus under the supervision of Programme Officer along with few staff and NSS volunteers.
  14. As part of Van Mahotsav Week from 1st to 7th July, 2021, NSS units of various colleges conducted plantation drives at their college campus and individual residences. Around 100 NSS volunteers and NSS Programme Officers participated.
  15. In observance of Swachhta Pakhwada from 1st – 15th August 2021 NSS volunteers carried out cleaning drives in their respective locality.
  16. Swacchta Pledge: Units also observed Gandhi Jayanti by taking the Swacchta pledge on 2nd October in addition to Pledge on non-violence.
  17. Plogging activities as part of Fit India Campaign and cleanliness drives and painting and essay competitions were also undertaken in observance of Gandhi Jayanti.
  18. As part of “Clean India Campaign” NSS unit UCC conducted cleaning drive and collection of waste at Umiam Lake viewpoint on 30th October 2021. About 40 volunteers participated.
  19. NSS Unit of Mairang Presbyterian Science College organized an Awareness on Importance of Cleanliness followed by a Cleaning Drive at Iew Langstieh, Mairang by on 24th March 2022. More than 50 NSS volunteers participated.
  20. As part of Celebrating Rivers of India, a River Cleaning drive was organized by the NSS unit of Lady Keane College, Shillong at Umden Arka on 10th December 2021.
  21. Another River Cleaning drive was organized by the NSS unit of Shillong Commerce College, Shillong at the water source of Umphrew Village on 18th December 2021.
  • COVID-19 Relief distribution Programmes:
  1. Shillong Law College: Marbisu Village, East Khasi Hills District. 7 volunteers and 1 Programme Officer on 2nd April 2020. Number  of beneficiaries 200 households.
  2. St. Edmund’s College, Shillong: Mawkyrnot Village, East Khasi Hills District on 28th March 2020. 1 Programme Officer. Number of beneficiaries 5 households.
  3. St. Anthony’s College, Shillong: Mawthei Village and Lumsohpieng Village, Ri-Bhoi District on 9th April 2020.
  4. St. Anthony’s College, Shillong: Kemrang and Mawkliaw Village under Sohra Civil Division, East Khasi Hills District on 11th April 2020. 4 Programme Officers and 5 NSS Volunteers. Number of  beneficiaries 179 households.
  5. St. Anthony’s College, Shillong: COVID-19 relief camp at Government Girl’s Higher Secondary School, Jail Road. 2 Programme Officers and 11 volunteers assisted the district administration in the rehabilitation of 51 stranded migrant labourers. The volunteers were on duty from 7th – 13th April 2020 from 8:00am to 4:00pm everyday.
  6. Union Christian College, Umsaw Khwan, Ri-Bhoi District: 50 stranded students in the college   campus and 18 families residing in the nearby villages were provided relief food items by the NSS unit.

St. Anthony’s College, Shillong:

  1. On the 9th April 2020, the NSS unit of the college comprising of 5 Programme Officers and 5 NSS Volunteers distributed relief materials to the villagers of Mawthei and Lumsohpieng village under Ri-Bhoi District. They were also assisted by the local Headman, the Secretary along with the village volunteers. The unit was able to distribute relief materials to around 26 households at Mawthei village and 83 households at Lumsohpieng village.
  2. On the 11th April 2020, the NSS unit of the college comprising of 5 Programme Officers and 5 NSS Volunteers distributed relief materials to the villagers of kemrang and Mawkliaw village under Sohra Sub-Division, East Khasi Hills District. They were also assisted by the local Headman, the Secretary along with the village volunteers. The unit was able to distribute relief materials to around 106 households at Kemrang village and 72 households at Mawkliaw village.
  3. As part of the volunteering service, 2 Programme Officers and 14 NSS volunteers from the unit were assigned for duty in the relief camp located at Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Jail Road, Shillong from the 13th April to 9th May, 2020.
  4. As part of the volunteering service, 2 Programme Officers and 4 NSS volunteers were assigned for duty in the relief camp located at various Hostels and Inns in Shillong from the 11th May to 30th June 2020.

Sngap Syiem College, Mawkyrwat:

  1. Mr.K. Nongsiej, NSS Programme Officer, Sngap Syiem College, Mawkyrwat in the true spirit of volunteerism, single handedly arranged to distribute essential food items to70 of the poorest families of Nongbrei, Nongdom, the adopted village of the NSS unit on 18th April 2020. Food items distributed were dal, sugar and oil.)
  2. Several NSS units have been actively involved in making for use of family members for locality residents and adopted villages.

         Ri-Bhoi College, Nongpoh:

  1. Report of the various activities undertaken by the NSS volunteers, of Ri Bhoi College, Nongpoh during the lockdown period (March-April,2020)
  2. Creating awareness by making posters on hand hygiene, social distancing, use of masks etc in English, Hindi, and local dialect and dessiminating the same through social media to friends and relatives. Some of them were sent to the DC office for display.
  3. Making of masks and distributing them to family members and relatives.
  4. Some of the volunteers, with parents consent, are also engaged in helping to maintain social distancing in shops and Banks. Some are helping in entry check points and in the distribution of ration food grains in their respective villages.
  5. Most of the NSS volunteers have registered in igot.gov.in and finished most of the trainings on covid 19 and received certificates.
  6. They have also downloaded the Aarogya setu app and shared the app with others also in their respective villages.

       Thomas Jones Synod College, Jowai:

  1. A video conference is held with the NSS Volunteers 30th April, 2020 through Zoom App, to discuss on the NSS Guidelines and also on the registration of igot.gov.in, and also regarding the installation of Arogya Setu App. No of participants 15.
  2. 6 volunteers who participated in the UNICEF Training in the UNICEF training on the 1st May 2020.
  3. Volunteers engaged themselves in mask making and distribution of mask.
  4. Supporting the District Administration, Locality and their respective villages on the awareness on COVID 19.
  5. Spreading awareness through social media by designing posters on the importance of hygiene, the importance of social distancing to overcome the pandemic.
  6. Supporting the administration in maintaining social distance.
  7. Dr. D. G. Lyngdoh, Programme Officer, received order from the administration for assisting in the control room.
  8. Volunteers also help in sanitization to support their locality/villages as a preventive measures against the disease.
  9. Some volunteers have also received certificates on the training on igot.gov.in and have also downloaded the Arogya Setu App.
  10. 9 (Nine) Volunteers along with 3 (Three) Programme Officers has been deployed by the West Jaintia Hills District as per NSS Guidelines and who has also get the consent of their parents.

       Shillong Law College, Shillong:

  1. Mr Balajied Lawriniang made the poster and had sent in the NSS NEHU Shillong Group WhatsApp.
  2. Only few students were allowed to go and distribute essential commodities to 14 (Fourteen) villages and 200 (Two Hundred) households, under Marbisu Sardirship. We have asked the Headmen of each village to pick up only few households who are poor. However, with the Permission of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, NSS Cell NEHU, and the Marbisu Sordarship, East Khasi Hills District, on the 4th and 5th of April, 2020 only 5 (Five) of us went to distribute the essential commodities like Rice, Dal, potatoes and Salt.
  3. Only 6 Six female students are involved in making mask for their family and friends. Total mask made by the six students are 56 (Fifty six) numbers.
  4. 23 students install the Arrogya Setu App along with the Programme officer
  5. UNICEF Training held on the 1st May,2020

       Union Christian College, Umsaw Khwan:

  1. Distribution of Rations free of cost at Umiam Khwan on the 7th of April 2020, NSS Unit, Union Christian College, with the assistance of the District Commissioner’s Office, Nongpoh, the BDO Office, Umsning and College authority was able to distribute free ration to approximately 50 stranded students and 16 families of casual workers residing in Umiam Khwan and Mawlyndep.
  2. On 13th and 14th April, 2020 Manufacturing and Distribution of Masks: Initiated and supervised by NSS PO, Mr. K. Sarma, a few residents of Union Christian College were able manufacture face masks and distribute the same to residents of Umiam Khwan. This step was initiated to adhere to the safety norms given by the health department and to meet the shortage of masks on campus.
  3. Counselling for Stranded Students on the 16th April 2020, the DC Office Ri-Bhoi sent counsellors, Ms. Betrisa Khongwir and Ms. Sanibhalin Syiemlieh, to tend to the psychological, emotional or any other mental health needs of the stranded students. NSS Programme Officer of Union Christian College, Mr. K. Sarma, was able to receive them and arrange a meeting and counselling session with the students. The students were briefed upon the necessary precautions to be taken from Covid-19 and how to tend to their overall well-being during the lockdown period.
  • Other Activities :
  1. The NSS unit of Kiang Nangbah Government College on the 29th May 2020 conducted an awareness programme on covid 19 for the benefit of the thirty five non teaching staff of the college at the college. The programme was chaired by the NSS programme officer of the college. Those who spoke on the occasion was the principal of the college Dr. E. M. Blah who gave the welcome address to the audience. In her speech she expressed happiness to the NSS unit of the college for being able to organize the event which is beneficial to the non teaching staff for they may not be aware of the precautions to be taken. One of the NSS volunteer of the college miss Cheerfully Kharsati gave the awareness programme. She spoke on the origin of the virus and it travelled quickly all over the world and how nations were effected in many ways and it had brought in difficulties in enormous ways which will take a long time to recover. In the programme NSS volunteer spoke that in order to keep oneself away from it they should follow certain dos and don’ts as laid down by the government like use of mask, social distancing, washing of hands and to observed all hygiene related with it. Two other faculties’ members of the college also spoke on the occasion. It may be mentioned that protocols were followed during the programme. The programme ended with a vote of thanks from the NSS programme officer of the college.
  2. The NSS Unit, Shillong College, observed the International Anti-Tobacco Day on the 31st May, 2020 by organising Essay, Poetry Writing, Slogan and Drawing competitions on the theme “Protecting Youth from Industry Manipulations and Preventing them from Tobacco and Nicotine use” which is the theme of this year’s observation.
  3. Inspite of the Lockdown due to Covid-19, many volunteers participated in these competitions from their homes and share their creative works through the use of digital platforms. A webinar was also conducted to observe the significance of this day where some volunteers and a Programme Officer took part in the webinar on the “Impact of Covid 19 on tobacco users”.
  4. The NSS unit of Kiang Nangbah Government College today on the 20th June 2020 observed the Yoga Day at the College itself. The programme was attended by ten volunteers only since all cannot participate due to the present constraints because of covid -19. Another three volunteers also yoga from their home village, photos attached below. All together fifteen types of yoga was performed under the supervision of the instructor. All government protocols were followed during the entire programme.
  5. Mawsynram Border Area College in association with the NSS unit celebrated the International Day of Yoga on 21st June 2020. Keeping the present theme of IDY- 2020 in mind, few of the NSS volunteers had the privilege of celebrating the programme as per schedule at their own residences. The students performed a number of Asanas (YOGA POSES) which in longer run will definitely benefit them physically, mentally and emotionally. Due to the ongoing pandemic (Covid-19) situation and being a rural-based College, the NSS unit could not celebrate the International Yoga Day at the Institute. Even in this time of adversity, the celebration was a successful one.
  6. International Yoga Day 21st June 2020: Various units observed the day by organising programmes such as poster making and videos for awareness generation through online mode.
  7. International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking 26th June 2020: Units observed the day by organising posters and slogans competition.
  8. Awareness on COVID-19: Programme Officers of St. Edmund’s College, Shillong conducted awareness campaigns on COVID-19 at Mawprem, Lawmei and Nongsder villages on 17th – 18th June 2020.
  9. The 21st of June, 2020 was observed as the International Day of Yoga and the NSS Unit of Union Christian College, Umiam Khwan, observed this occasion with demonstration and exercising of Yoga drills under the supervision of Programme Officers Mr. K. Sarma and Mr. A.B.S Kharkongor. This year presented a unique challenge in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic and the college being devoid of students. However, with the aid of technology the different Yoga drills were disseminated to the volunteers and respective family members, following prescribed guidelines. Dr. S.K. Singh, Department of Mathematics, Union Christian College, agreed to be the resource person for demonstration of the different Yoga exercises. The exercises were done at the Indoor stadium of the college campus, the Austin John International Hostel and the respective homes of the volunteer participants.
  10. NSS unit of Shillong College, observed the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on the 26th June, 2020 by organising Poster and Slogan Competitions amongst students & volunteers of the College. Due to current lockdown situation and social distancing norms adopted by the government, the students are taking part in the programme through Whatsapp Group and internet facilities available. More than 100 students & volunteers took part in the competitions and prizes will be given to the winners in different categories once college reopens.
  11. NSS unit of Sngap Syiem College, Mawkyrwat in collaboration with office of the Deputy Commissioner, South West Khasi Hills organized awareness cum training programme on Covid-19 on 24th July 2020 at the college campus.
  12. NSS volunteers of Sngap Syiem College, Mawkyrwat were deputed by the office of the Deputy Commissioner, South West Khasi Hills as team members on enforcing Covid-19 protocols in Mawkyrwat market from 10th – 22nd August 2020.
  13. Volunteers also watched the inaugural programme of Rashtriya Swacchta Kendra (RSK) on 8th August 2020.
  14. Volunteers also watched the programme on International Youth Day on 12th August 2020.
  15. Volunteers also undertook activities at their respective houses as part of the Gandagi Mukt Bharat campaign from 8th -15th August 2020.
  16. Volunteers also watched the launching of the “Fit India Youth Club” on 15th August 2020. Other activities such as online painting, slogan writing, drawing competitions by units were also held to observe Independence Day celebrations on 15th August 2020.
  17. NSS units of various colleges under NSS Cell, NEHU alongwith the rest of the country, observed ‘Constitution Day’ on 26th November 2020 by reading the Preamble of the Constitution of India.
  18. The Programme Officers of Lady Keane College NSS unit along with three NSS volunteers, Ms. Stepbaphyrnai Lyngdoh, Ms. Jovenia Kharshiing, Ms. Prianka Syiemlieh, were assigned duty in this centre. This community quarantine centre is allocated only for females. The volunteers were tasked to oversee all the activities in the centre. The following managing roles were entrusted to the NSS volunteers: During the volunteering period, the NSS volunteers would see that the PUQs in the centre are keeping themselves fit and healthy by doing exercises. The volunteers would play the role of a trainer and lead the residents into few stretching and cardio work out while maintaining physical distancing. Cleaning & Disinfecting: During the volunteering period, the Programme Officer along with the NSS volunteers would see that the rooms and the surroundings of the quarantine centre is kept clean at all times. In this connection, the volunteers never shy away from performing the role as a House Keeper. The PUQs were also encouraged to clean and disinfect their own rooms.
  19. On 15th August 2020, the NSS Unit of Union Christian College observed the 73 rd Independence Day in the college campus. Led by NSS Programme Officer, Mr. K. Sarma, hoisting of the Indian flag was observed in the college campus along with a few on campus residents. In addition, with the launching of ‘Fit India Youth Club’ by the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of India, NSS Programme Officers, Mr. K. Sarma and Mr. A.B.S Kharkongor along with a few volunteers undertook a number of fitness activities including Yoga exercises and cycling.

  22. Poster awareness campaign on COVID-19 through social media was done by the NSS volunteers of St. Mary’s College, Shillong on 20th May 2021.

  24. A Posters to create awareness on Covid-19 in Khasi language and Bhoi dialect was done by the NSS unit of Ri-Bhoi College, Nongpoh on 12th June 2021.
  25. Various NSS units observed the International Day of Yoga through various programmes such as: A virtual training programme on the topic: “Yoga Practice: its importance and implementation during covid-19 pandemic”, “Yoga at Home and Yoga with Family” 
  26. On the occasion of “International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit trafficking” the NSS Unit of Union Christian College, Umsaw Khwan and NSS unit BBS College, Shillong organized a poster awareness programme through online mode on 26th June 2021.
  27. 20 NSS volunteers of Kiang Nangbah Government College, Jowai attended a webinar on “National Education Policy” NEP on 4th August 2021. 100 volunteers attended.
  28. Around 150 NSS volunteers successfully participated in the online Rashtragaan (Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav) on 7th August 2021 organised by the Ministry of Culture.
  29. Volunteers also attended the online ceremony of the National Youth Awards 2021 on 12th August 2021.
  30. 4th Rashtriya Poshan Maah (National Nutrition Week) from 1st to 7th September 2021 was also observed by  various units in a befitting manner.
  31. 3 NSS volunteers of Jaintia Eastern College, Khliehriat and Shillong College, Shillong received the NSS Yuva Yodha Award on 24th September 2021. The awards were given by the Krisha Foundation celebrating 75th years of Independence.
  32. Unit of KNGC, Jowai conducted a play on the theme “Fundamental Rights” to mark the occasion of 75 Years of Independence in collaboration with District Legal Services Authority.
  33. Various colleges observed Constitution Day on 26th November 2021 by taking pledge on Preamble at their respective institutions.

  35. In observance of World AIDS Day, an online general awareness programme for students was organized by the NSS unit of Shillong Commerce College, Shillong on 1st December 2021.
  36. A poster making competition was organized by NSS unit of St. Edmund’s College, Shillong in observance of World AIDS Day on 1st December 2021 at the college campus.
  37. An online quiz competition on Gandhi Jayanti and Constitution of India was organized by NSS unit St. Anthony’s College Extension, Byndihati on 10th December 2021 at the college campus.
  38. 15 NSS volunteers from St. Anthony’s College and BBS College participated at the video Shooting on 4th January 2022 at Umiam Lake in connection with the 25th National Youth Festival.
  39. 20 NSS volunteers from Shillong Law College participated at the video Shooting at Laitlum, Smit on 5th January 2022 in connection with the 25th National Youth Festival.
  40. NSS Programme Officers and Volunteers from different institutions participated in the online inaugural function of the 25th National Youth Festival inaugurated by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India on 12th January 2022.

In observance of National Girl Child Day, the NSS Cell, NEHU alongwith Dean Student’s Welfare, NEHU, Shillong and Shillong Law College felicitated students from the adopted village of Marbisu for their achievements in their respective fields on 24th January 2022 at the Community Hall, Marbisu Village.
  42. 9 NSS volunteers from different institutions participated at the District Youth parliament at Youth Hostel on 24th February 2022.
  43. Mr. Ralph Z. Marbaniang, NSS Volunteer, St. Edmund’s College has secured 1st Rank in the State Youth Parliament Festival which was held on the 28th February 2022 at the Conference Hall of St. Anthony’s College, Shillong.
  44. NSS unit, BBS College, Shillong celebrated International Women’s Day by organizing Exhibition cum Interactive Session with Women’s Self Help Group of Lapalang, Mawpat C&RD Block, Pragati and Sunrise group 8th March 2022.
  45. In observance of International Women’s Day, the NSS unit of Ri-Bhoi College, Nongpoh in collaboration with the Women’s Cell, Ri-Bhoi College organized Awareness Programme on the topic “Human Trafficking and Respecting Women” on 8th March 2022.
  46. Mr. Ralph Marbaniang, NSS volunteer of St. Edmund’s College, Shillong represented Meghalaya at the National Youth Parliament Festival 2021-2022 at New Delhi on 10th – 11th March 2022.

  • Special Camping Programme:
  1. The unit of Kiang Nangbah Government College, Jowai conducted a special camp at Kudeng Rim village, West Jaintia Hills from 29th November – 5th December 2021 with 50 campers.
  2. The unit of Jaintia Eastern College, Khliehriat conducted a special camp at Mukhaialong village, East Jaintia Hills, from 12th – 18th December, 2021. 50 campers participated in the camp.
  3. A Special Camping programme was organized by the NSS Unit of St. Anthony’s College Extension, Byndihati at Larseng Village, East Jaintia Hills, from 17th – 23rd December 2021.  100 campers participated in the camp.
  4. NSS unit of Durama College organized a Special Camp at Sakal A’duma (Sasatgre village) from 7th – 13th March 2022. 88 campers participated in the camp.
