"On 1st July, 2019 marking the completion of 4 years of Digital India Hon'ble Minister for Electronics & Information Technology, Communications and Law & Justice along with Hon'ble Minister of State for Electronics, & Infomation Technology, Communications and Human Resource Development launched Wi-Fi enable Campus Networks at Osmania University, Hyderabad and North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong.
With Digital India becoming mainstream requirement for higher studies in our universities, 'conectivity anywhere' is a requirement of almost all students. It helps them to access the e-books, UGC material, on-line libraries and journals and also the host of study material available globally. As part of launch of Digital India, MeitY had also planned Wi-Fi in Osmania in Hyderabad and North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) in Shillong."
"The Wi-fi is provided not only in the administrative areas and libraries, but it covers 113 buildings including hostels of Osmania and 58 buildings of NEHU. 1,379 hotspots have been created in Osmania and 447 in NEHU. Over 6,000 students in Osmania and over 3,000 students in NEHU are going to benefit the wi-fi services." (MeitY press release)
