Bio-Entrepreneurship Development Training Programme conducted and organized by Biotech KISAN Hub, NEHU, Tura Campus

Bio-Entrepreneurship Development Training Programme was conducted and organized by Biotech KISAN Hub, NEHU, Tura Campus, Meghalaya on 18/11/2022 at village, Darechikgre, Block: Rongram, Meghalaya with two SHG's and others to identify and motivate the traditional and non- traditional entrepreneurs and farmers who have the potential of setting up a small- micro enterprise. The programme are led by the Project Coordinator, Dr. Arindam Barman, Assistant Professor & Principal Investigator, Department of Horticulture, NEHU, Tura Campus, Meghalaya; Prof. J U Ahmed, Professor, Department of Management, NEHU, Tura Campus, Meghalaya; Mr. Nathan Ch Momin, Member, Adil Gandhian Society, Tura, Meghalaya; Ms. Neha M. Sangma, Project Assistant, Biotech KISAN Hub, NEHU, Tura Campus, Meghalaya and Amy D. Shira, Project Activity Assistant, Biotech KISAN Hub, NEHU, Tura Campus, Meghalaya. This training programme was conducted to upgrade the skills of prospective farmers and the existing workforce, etc. The objective behind this programme is to provide training that would boost their abilities at the same time equipped them with technological skills that help in the production and marketing process of agricultural products.

The programme makes a robust effort on extensive business opportunities to work efficiently and flexibly in various domains like biocomposting, vermicomposting, low cost shade net house growing of vegetables (tomato, capsicum, naga chilli etc) etc for the upliftment of the farmers. For now two SHG's and some other farmers from village, Darechikgre, Block: Rongram, Meghalaya participated in this training programme enthusiastically. Dr. Arindam Barman, Project coordinator, Biotech KISAN Hub, NEHU, Tura Campus, Meghalaya; Prof. J U Ahmed, Professor, Department of Management, NEHU, Tura Campus, Meghalaya; Mr. Nathan Ch Momin, Member, Adil Gandhian Society, Tura, Meghalaya delivered lectures on topics related to vermicomposting, biocomposting, marketing strategies, multiple production from low cost shade net house etc. The farmers were quiet satisfied with the training and very soon the Biotech KISAN Hub, NEHU, Tura Campus, Meghalaya is going to provide possible facilities (low cost shade net house, planting material, composting units etc) to execute the programme in field level for the societal development.
