The Office of the District Medical & Health Officer, West Garo Hills, Tura in association with NEHU Tura Campus celebrated the 5th National Naturopathy Day on 18th Nov, 2022 in NEHU, Tura Campus. Initiated by the Ministry of AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy), Government of India, to promote positive mental and physical health through drug-free therapy, the National Naturopathy Day is observed in India every year on 18th November since 2018. The theme of the Naturopathy day 2022 was: Naturopathy: An Integrative Medicine. While welcoming the guest and participants, Coordinator of the event Dr. Deepak Bhagat, Associate Professor, Department of Management, NEHU, Tura Campus and NSS Programme Officer P G Unit, NEHU, Tura highlighted the need of Naturopathy in today’s fast changing life. Dr. Sambu Aryal, Yoga and Naturopathy physician, Tura Civil Hospital, Tura also spoke on the importance of Naturopathy. He talked on different types of Naturopathy viz. Diet Therapy, Fasting Therapy, Mud Therapy, Hydrotherapy, Masso Therapy, Acupressure, Acupuncture, Choromo Therapy and Air Therapy. Prof. Sujata Gurudev, the Campus-in-Charge, NEHU, Tura Campus, a very firm believer of Naturopathy herself, informed the participants that Naturopathy is the oldest healthcare system that combines modern scientific knowledge with traditional and natural medicine. She also spoke on the plans of campus in popularising Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy among the residents of campus to begin with. Dr. Bertha Bercy Sangma, Homeopathic Physician, Maternity and Child Hospital, West Garo Hills chaired the programme. The vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Juban Kharkongor, Ayurvedic Physician, Maternity and Child Hospital, West Garo Hills. The program was attended by more than 200 participants including the faculty members, research scholars, post- graduate students, staff of NEHU Tura Campus along with doctors from Tura Civil Hospital and Maternity and Child Hospital, West Garo Hills.
