A One Day National Webinar on Leadership Development for Academic Administrators of Higher Educational Institutions was organised by HRDC, NEHU on 8th February, 2022 in where by a total of 63 participants from all over India took part in the programme. The Dean, School of Physical Sciences, North Eastern Hill University, Shillong Prof. K M Rao Chief Guest of the programme in his inaugural address welcome the Participants and the Eminent speakers for the programme and expressed his thankfulness to Prof. S Rama Rao, Director I/C ,UGC – HRDC, NEHU, Shillong for inviting him to the programme . In his Speech, the Chief Guest mention that the concept of Leadership Training for Academic Administrators in Higher Education is a relatively new in developing countries and that in India it started recently with the introduction of the National Education Policy.He also added that being a good Academician is different from a good Administrator as an Administrator have to look after the whole system and that strong leadership and good co-ordination is needed in Universities and Higher Education and that skillful and efficient Leaders are the need of the hour to run Higher Institutions and Universities to run efficiently.
Prof S R Rao, Director I/C, UGC- HRDC,NEHU in his welcome address said that HRDC is fortunate to have Prof. K M Rao, Dean, School of Physical Sciences, NEHU as the Chief Guest and the Speakers in the programme who will enlightened the Participants about the importance of Leadership for Academic Administrators. He also mentioned that HRDC has always given their full support to the Teacher Community in the regional as well as national level.
Prof S R Rao, further added that Academic Leadership is equally important as Political Leadership and that without proper training and skills an Administrator will not be able to efficiently run the Institutions.
