NEHU Signs MOU with Regional Training Institute, Shillong

North Eastern Hill University signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Regional Training Insitute (Indian Audit and Accounts) Shillong on the 22nd March 2022 at NEHU permanent campus in the presence of Prof. P. S. Shukla Vice Chancellor of NEHU, Shri. Athikho Chalai, Director General of RTI Shillong and officials of both organisations. The meeting was chaired by Prof. B. Panda, Professor of Economics department and Hon. Director of ICSSR-NERC, Shillong. Speaking on the occasion, Shri Chalai provided a brief account on the role of RTI, Shillong in providing training for officers and staff of the Indian Audit and Account Services catering to 16 CAGs establishment in the North East. He also informed the gathering that the centre is a designated knowledge centre for ADCs finances. In his address, Prof. Shukla welcomed the initiative and narrated how the collaboration between the two institutions can be a win-win situation for both the Institutions which will benefit the students, faculty and community at large. The Vice-Chancellor of NEHU, Prof. Prabha Shankar Shukla further added that this MoU between NEHU, Shillong and RTI, Shillong will help both the organisations in catering to the needs of the students. The MoU will result in collaborative works between NEHU and RTI. Both NEHU and RTI will be benefitted from this MoU. He added that NEHU has enough resources through which we can help RTI, Shillong in running their courses by helping them in arranging resource persons from our university and also help in infrastructure use as and when it is needed and feasible. He also mentioned that NEHU will get the same kind of benefits from RTI, Audit and Accounts Department, Shillong in giving some training courses to our students which are relevant to the present times.

The signing of MOU was followed with a "Consultative Workshop on Local Government Accounting" organised by the department of Economics, NEHU. A presentation was made by Prof. S. Umdor and Mr. K. Vanlalhruaitluanga of the department of Economics, NEHU in the presence of officers and faculty of RTI and AG office, Shillong as well as those of department of Economics, NEHU. The workshop ended with both parties agreeing to collaborate in research and training in the area of ADC finances.
