NIELIT Shillong organizes Capacity Building Course on IoT at NEHU Shillong

National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology, Shillong in collaboration with the Department of Biomedical Engineering, North Eastern Hill University, Shillong has started a course on Internet of Things (IoT) under the project "Capacity Building in IECT including Training in Digital Skillsets and current Industry Demanding Technologies for various section of society in the NE States" funded by Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology"

The course was inaugurated on 20th February'2023 by the Vice Chancellor NEHU, Prof. Prof Prabha Shankar Shukla and the other dignitaries present namely Dr Y Jayanta Singh, Executive Director NIELIT Shillong and Guwahati, Prof. Md. Iftekhar Hussain, Dean, SoT, NEHU, Shillong, Dr. Dinesh Bhatia, Associate Professor and Course Coordinator, Bio Medical Engineering Department, NEHU, Shillong, Sh Anand Raje, Director of BASIS Technologies Pvt. Ltd., Sri Santanu Borgohain, Centre-in-Charge NIELIT Shillong, Vidhya Vibha, Scientist-C NIELIT Shillong and Ng Saritamala Devi, Senior Technical Officer NIELIT Shillong.

Close to 120 students from different disciplines enrolled for this 10 days long course till 4th March, 2023. The program started with the welcome speech by the course coordinator Dr. Dinesh Bhatia. He welcomed all the guests and briefed about the objective of organizing the IoT course and its future impact in different areas of healthcare, devices, agriculture, communication etc. He hoped participants would benefit from the course and a close collaboration could be established between NIELIT and NEHU to enhance capacity building and skill development in the region. Prof. Hussain in his speech outlined the various aspects of IoT including its challenges and the evolution of technology over the past 50 years.

Dr Y Jyanta Singh, Executive Director of NIELIT Shillong and Guwahati highlighted the importance of such course and how it could develop desired technical skills and create bonding among participants from different technical fields which would help in their future endeavours and career growth. Sh Anand Raje Director of BASIS Technologies Pvt. Ltd.  And an industry expert mentioned about the industry requirements related to IoT and how to get involved with core technologies to leverage future outcomes that will help in changing the Indian landscape in the technological sector. The Vice Chancellor NEHU Prof. Shukla appraised the student to sincerely devote their time to learn from industry experts about IoT and its applications. He further stated for etting up of an ideation centre in the University that would help the students to brainstorm and implement their ideas with help of professionals. The program ended with vote of thanks by Sri Santanu Borgohain, Centre-in-Charge NIELIT Shillong who thanked all officials involved in smooth conduct of the programme.
