NEHU awarded 2nd prize for excellent achievements in higher education in India during the Three days Government Achievements & Schemes Expo 2024

On 20th July, 2024 Prof. Prabha Sankar Shukla, Honourable Vice Chancellor of North Eastern Hill University, Meghalaya and Prof. G.  Singaiah, Vice Chancellor of Birangana Sati Sadhani Rajyik Vishwavidyalaya, Assam visited the Government Achievements & Schemes Expo - 2024 from 20th July 2024 to 22nd July 2024 (Three days) which was held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi along with the other guests from North-Eastern Hill University namely Prof. Sumarbin Umdor, Controller of Examinations, Prof. L. J. Singh, Former Dean of School of Technology, NEHU Shilling. Also, they visited the North Eastern Hill University Stall in the expo where Dr. R. Sasikumar, Nodal Officer, Incubation Centre, NEHU Tura Campus explained about the government achievements under the scheme of A Scheme for Promotion of Innovation, Rural Industry & Entrepreneurship (ASPIRE) and displayed various innovative technologies and products developed by the Incubation team, under the leadership of Dr. R. Sasikumar, NEHU Tura Campus, Meghalaya.

In the Expo, the number institutes were participated from across the country such as Central Universities, NIT’s, IIM’s, CSIR institutes, Incubation Centres, and State Government’s departments too and there were 100 stalls displayed and showcased their novel technologies, products, and achievements towards the Government schemes. North-Eastern Hill University (A Central University), Government of India, Meghalaya exhibited the developed patented technologies and products also, which are aligned with ASPIRE scheme of Government of India. NEHU showcased 9 novel technologies, which included 3 patented technologies, 9 viable commercial products, well established Food Testing Laboratory, and pilot cum commercial plants to facilitate customize technology and product development. The three days Expo started from 20th July 2024 to 22nd July 2024, there were nearly 2500 visitors for each day and the total registered visitors 1753 of NEHU’s stall alone.  

The Expo organizing committee after regress evaluation all over the 100 stalls and their significant contribution towards the national importance, the committee awarded 2nd prize to North Eastern Hill University, Meghalaya for the excellent achievements in higher education, the prize award received by Dr. R. Sasikumar, Nodal Officer, Incubation Centre, NEHU Tura Campus, Meghalaya.

The Incubation Centre, NEHU Tura Campus have been doing various capacity building programme, hands on training, workshops and also Agri-Horti and Apiculture input supports to various farmer cluster groups in collaboration with ICAR-NIBSM, Raipur, Chhattisgarh, under the scheme of North East Hill Program (NEH) for the welfare and socio-economic development in the North Eastern Region (NER). And this scheme has been implementing since from 2020 under the leadership of Dr. P. K. Ghosh, Director, ICAR-NIBSM and Dr. P. Mooventhan, Senior Scientist, Nodal Officer, ICAR NIBSM, Raipur, Chhattisgarh.  In addition, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between ICAR-NIBSM and NEHU under this programme on 2020 for the period of 5 year (2019-2024).
